Given the approximate age of the subject, his face, flight suit, and F-84 Thunderjet jet fighters depicted, this appears to be a painting of Col. John S. "Jack" Chennault (USAF), eldest son of Claire Chennault. Jack Chennault commanded the 86th Fighter-Bomber Wing (86th F-B Wing) (later the 86th Tactical Fighter Wing (86th TFW)) in Germany from 1949 to 1952, as it transitioned from the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt (re-designated the "F-47") to the Republic F-84E Thunderjet.
