A Lt. Col. G. Andrews was the commanding officer of the 6th Infantry in November 1858 - books.google.com.au/books?id=xZgFAAAAQAAJ&pg=PA782&am... and also in 1861: books.google.com.au/books?id=w3QwAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA131&am... Maybe it's the same bloke, maybe not.

He was appointed by the President recently to succeed Frederick C. Ainsworth, whose removal came through a controversy with the President and the Secretary of War. Andrews will take the rank of Brigadier-General. He was born in Rhode Island August 26, 1850 and is a graduate of Westpoint."

Margaret Frances Andrews was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Andrews of Newport, RI. In 1911, she was rumored to be engaged to William Vincent Astor, who would later die on the Titanic. In 1915, she married Morgan Belmont (1892-1953), at her parents' home, Rockery Hall; as reported in the New York Times, "The occasion marked the union of members of two of the oldest families in Newport's social history, and a representative gathering of the Summer colony was present. Owing to the bride's family being in mourning, the number of guests was limited to 150." The christening of her daughter, Margaret Andrews Morgan Belmont, was reported in August 1917. Occasion of the photo above might be the Newport Dog Show?
