    Hilltop Park at 168th Street and Broadway in upper Manhattan, was the home of the New York American League franchise now known as the Yankees (then called the Highlanders) for its first decade of existence (1903-1912). The Yankees moved across Manhattan to share the Polo Grounds with the NL's Giants (who had briefly used Hilltop Park as a home in 1911 when an earlier version of the Polo Grounds caught on fire). They were the Giants' tenants for another decade until moving across the Harlem River to the Bronx in 1923. Hilltop Park is now the site of Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.

    1912 was Jeff Tesreau's rookie year with the New York Giants (NL). In the regular season, he picthed 36 games (starting 28 and completing 19) and led the league with a 1.96 ERA. He started 3 games (going 1-2) in the 1912 World Series against Boston. Boston won the series in 8 games. Yes, 8 games! Game 2, played in Boston, was called because of darkness. Tesreau was on a squad that included Christy Mathewson and Rube Marquard.
