    The Great White Fleet (then known as the American Fleet) arrived in Sydney on 20 August 1908.

    So you could date this photograph to a few days either side of that date.

    Wow! This is hilarious! In those days no-one was concerned about safety and overloading of vehicles. :) The boys in the white hats may be private school students. It makes me wonder which way the tram went, this way, or the other way, and how the driver would see out the window. What street corner may that be?

    Cecilia Temperli The tram is on Darlinghurst Road, Kings Cross, just past where the big Coca Cola billboard is located today at the summit of William Street. The tram is moving towards us, turning to our left [the driver's right] into Bayswater Road.

    pellethepoet Thank you! :) I used to live in 'Francis Hall - House of Distinction' in Kings Cross Road, in 1972, not as nice as it is today, but still a grand old building.
