  I think this is the center of a Kreco D-100 or D-150 discone antenna. Aluminum rods thread into the threaded holes to make a completed antenna. Your corrections are welcomed. example on eBay

  Mr. Palmer did a great publicity shoot at Douglas that day. Dress was a bit formal I would say! Oil coated aluminum shavings from a lathe are not something I would wear good clothes around!

  Another bit of aircraft nerding from me. The one on top is a Shorts S20. Below is an S21. Both aircraft were passed on to BOAC in 1940. The S20 was broken up at Rochester in 1941. The S21 was destroyed in an air raid at Poole during WWII.
