    I see there's a Johnstown in Waterford as per the "commissioned by" details , but a Michael Bergin of Fancy View, Johnstown, Kilkenny was looking for a girl for Drapery, Grocery etc in the situations vacant columns of the Wicklow People on Saturday 20 February 1904. Edit: But there were also Bergins in Johnstown, Waterford (J Burgin of Johnstown nominated for the Waterford Seanad - Waterford Standard Saturday 22 January 1938) so my theory that the "commissioned by" bit had the wrong Johnstown is probably hogwash. As you were.

    The Waterford John Bergin of 80 Johnstown was a monumental sculptor (a snippet in the news that his son had been promoted to Captain in the Army, reported in the Waterford Standard - Saturday 20 March 1943) So I guess he commissioned the photo to show off his stonemasonry skills to prospective clients without them having to visit the cemetery.
