1927

Originally named after the Miami Hotel in 1925, the area was used as a large military camp in World War II. Miami experienced substantial building growth in the 1960s which was also when the district’s State High School was opened, attended by Anna Bligh who would later become Queensland’s Premier in 2007. In 1962 a chairlift was opened that would take visitors up to a cafeteria on North Nobby Hill. Eventually, a Magic Castle was built there and in 1983 the site was developed as the Magic Mountain theme park, complete with theatre, playground, and even ‘thrill rides’. It was a vibrant tourist attraction for a number of years until it was replaced by holiday apartments that still go by the name ‘Magic Mountain Resort’. In Feb 1926, the Tiller Girls seem to have been ending a long run with the Ziegfeld Follies in New York.

Among the stills that are shown with the music is one that shows the young women in these clothes.

Shorpy at www.shorpy.com/node/5602 seems to have concluded this was a photo taken on their arrival in the States but doesn't fully explain why.

Here's the aircraft in another SDASM photo Initially designed as a seaplane, the UO-1 was soon classified as “convertible,” using interchangeable single-main float or wheeled-landing gear (these UO-1’s were designated UO-1C). First flown in the fall of 1922, the UO-1’s entered service with the U.S.S. Richmond in 1923. As their superiority over potential competing types became evident, they became the only observation type in use on the fleet’s catapult-equipped combat ships. The 15 first-class battleships were each equipped with one or more UO-1’s.
