Amazing how far the flash reaches. An electronic flash wouldn't make half the distance.

Possibly one of the later model Short Sunderland flying boats operated by TEAL (Tasman Empire Airways Ltd) in the late 1940s and early 1950s...the motor on the right is a good match...the starboard wing float appears on the edge of frame rhs. Possibly the same aircraft that appears in pic 4 of this series...

Great vintage Australasian budding dominions before the ANZAC troops emerged at Gallipoli in WWI .Is there a Maori man in the photo'?

Yes mikescottnz, it made sense for the New Zealanders to join the Australians as there were only a few of them. The men mostly wear the Australian blazer here and the two women were Australia's first two women swimming champions who won gold and silver at Stockholm, but for some reason have the NSW badge on their coats. Malcolm Champion,New Zealand's first gold medallist, was in the men's 4 x 200 metre freestyle with three Australians, so this team is very significant in the Olympic history of both countries.

Thanks for that , do you know which chap is Malcolm in this photograph?

The National Library has a photograph of the winning team at: nla.gov.au/nla.pic-an21171586 but they do not say whether Boardman is on the extreme left or right. See also: www.flickr.com/photos/statelibraryofnsw/3446366931/

This looks like the images from the 1875 Health Survey in Sydney. Same pigmentation, same jumble of items. I wonder where his steam engine was kept.
