Jews in Space. Please tell us it won't be matzoh and space ice cream for 9 months at a space station. :) yes... and when your grandmother went up on an early space misison, they had real geffilte fish swimming in the tub, but then they remembered no gravity... so, nu, what else happened back then... (Sorry, I got a bit carried away). Nice to see families and kids at LBI/ CJH. Shaloha.

Over 350 Jewish soldiers served in the Finnish Defence Forces during WWII. 23 of them was killed in action. 15 in the "Winter War" of 1939-1940, and 8 in the "Continuation War" of 1941-1944. Jewish soldiers also participated in the "Lapland War" of 1944-1945 against Nazi Germans, but they suffered no casualties in that conflict.

This picture is taken in the synagogue of Helsinki. This memorial ceremony was on the independence day of Finland, December 6, 1944. The man sitting in the center at the front is President and Marshal of Finland, Carl Gustav Emil Mannerheim.
