    Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum (my great-grand-father) is the gentleman on the left with the beard. Being a founder of the JDC or Joint was among his many significant accomplishments. I do not know who the other unidentified person on the right is though I bet the JDC might. My other guess of who might know is my grand-uncle his son. Another place that might know is the Jewish Museum in NY which had the same picture hanging for many years.

    Judging from Friedl’s clothing the dates would seem to fall in the early twenties, as women's fashion in the era allowed for more comfortable looks, particularly when engaging in sport. Such as this image from 1924.

    Joseph Roth led a very interesting life though he seems to be relatively unknown. He’s definitely worthy of more research.

    Short bio of Joseph and Friedl…

    “Joseph Roth was born in Brody in Galicia, then part of the Habsburg Monarchy, now Ukraine, on September 26, 1894 in the family of Maria (Miriam) Roth nee Gruebel and Nahum Roth. He worked as a journalist before focusing on writing novels and short stories. Joseph Roth died in the Necker hospital in Paris on May 27, 1939. His wife, Friederike (Friedl), who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1928, lived in an Austrian mental sanatorium, where she was killed in the Nazi euthanasia program in 1940.”
