Presumably referring to the Treaty of Vereeniging, signed on 31 May 1902.

All talking about "Peace" and "Terms of Peace" which will have been the end of the 2nd Boer War which ended in May 1902. It was an unpopular war which had seen the introduction of things such as concentration camps, "scorched earth" and internment which eradicated dramatically support for the war. An impressive array of newspapers - The Newry Reporter, The Newry Telegraph as well as The Irish Times and Independent, The Weekly Freeman. Hallelujah! Limerick finally gets a look in! The "Jesuits" is all we ever knew this as not the "Sacred Heart". It was situated in the "Crescent" right in the heart of the city and I don't think I ever saw it so quiet in daylight. Right beside the church was the Crescent College where the Jesuits provided education for the privileged in the community. Some luminaries went to school there including Donagh O'Malley former Minister for Education, his nephew Dessie O'Malley opponent of Haughey and many times Minister and indeed Donagh's son Darragh the actor. The Jesuits were in Limerick for almost 500 years but as far as I know are all gone from there now!
