Aviator Art Goebel to the left side of the frame, his mother Emma Goebel, and famed Air Corps pilot Ira "Bert" Woodring on the right.

This is Lockheed Explorer c/n148, NR101W, 'Yankee Doodle', built for Goebel but never flown by him. Later sold to Pure Oil Company renamed 'Blue Flash' and flown by pilot Roy Ammel. Plane crashed on take off from France Field, Canal Zone on November 21, 1930.

The MARIPOSA docked at Circular Quay East on 16th July 1934 and the following day, 17th July, the floating crane TITAN unloaded Kingsford Smith's aeroplane onto a barge for transport to Anderson Park, Neutral Bay.
The reference to Woolloomooloo in an error.

avro99 Yes, the shipping intelligence indicates the Mariposa was berthed at Circular Quay No. 2 wharf...which is where this pic was taken...

I gather this pic (below) might have been taken shortly before the Mariposa departed from the US...
