This photo was taken before Parliament burned down. The peace tower is different now.

This is the former centre block of the Canadian Parliament Buildings. With the exception of the parliamentary library (the conical rooftop seen in the rear of the building), it was completely desstroyed by a fire on February 2, 1916. A new and larger centre block was rebuilt on the same site. It was completed in 1928. In the meantime, Parliament met at the National Museum, located at the other end of Metcalfe Street.

The Parliament burnt down in 1916, and the only part that survived was the library. The library is in the back of the Parliament buildings and you can just view its steeple in this photo.

So this is the one that burned down. The photo must have been taken from the East Block though I assume.
