Cassies grandma: Thanks for the information. Serbs or Serbians would probably be the term used today. The captions for the Bain collection reflect the language at the time they were made. We will update the source data and reload the description.

Mexico City newspaper editor who opposed the Mexican president, General Diaz, and went into exile in New York City, when that opposition became a very dangerous position to hold.

This is a picture of Heriberto Barron, an outspoke Hispanic journalist. He was born and raised in Mexico and eventually fled to the United States to avoid death.

I appreciate this picture of Heriberto Barron for a multitude of reasons. He believed in something and stood up for himself against a much larger and potentially dangerous enemy. He also was exiled to New York which is where I'm from so I intend to learn more about him.
