Herbert Windsor Mumford (1871-1938) was professor of agriculture (1901-1938), Head of Department of Animal Husbandry (1901-1922) and Dean of College of Agriculture and Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station and Extension Service (1922-1938) at the University of Illinois, according to this web page. A dozen of his published works on agriculture can be downloaded from The Internet Archive (search on his full name.) A brief biography of H.W. Mumford published in 1995 is available in .pdf format here. It includes a later photo of him. His brother, Frederick B. Mumford (1868-1946), had a similar career, at the University of Missouri.

Her brother, Duncan Arthur MacInnes (1885-1965), was also born in Salt Lake City, also attended the University of Illinois, for grad school; he earned a PhD there in 1911, and became a professor of Physical Chemistry at MIT.
