I guess Robert French did not own a carpenter's spirit level. Note the roof line of the distant building is sloped. I am sure it was not built in the style of Pisa. Sometimes the simplest tool from a hardware store and without a photographic brand name can be used to improve photography. A spirit level is just one item.

Congrats on the milestone! The exhibition sounds great - will fill-in the survey shortly. Not sure when the clock was first installed, but this image must surely be mid-1920s based on fashion alone (and certainly after 1922 as that's when the Clery's building was built/rebuilt) . Also fascinating to me (and may or may not be relevant to date) is that it looks like the Japanese "rising sun" flag is flying above Clery's. Which seems very unusual. As I always thought that was a military/naval ensign....

From our old favourite, Archiseek (archiseek.com/forum/topic/dublin-street-lighting/): 1920-23 During this period, new rather bizarre looking electric lamps were attached to the swan-neck posts, replacing the earlier globes. Some of these can be seen swinging loosely in the wind in some footage. They survived right up till the end of these grand post's lives.

A smashing view of Cork :) With lots to see. While I would normally be chomping-at-the-bit to mansplain my way through any Cork photo, I've gotta head out the back again. And weigh down the fallen garden fence-panel. And retrieve the lifted shed felt-panel :) Stay safe all today. And certainly don't go trying to recreate this shot. Certainly not at lunchtime when this Ophelia tracking site suggests the County Hall will be taking a brunt of it :)
