By my calculations, if this woman is about 70, she was coming of age during the Regency, one of my favorite eras. There's a bit of an 1830s influence in her dress as it is. :D

I agree with Miss History. The style of the cap she is wearing is definitely early 1800s. The ruffled edge is pervasive through about 1850. Just as today when many women don't change their hair styles after they finish school, women of that time wore the same type of caps for their whole lives.
