    A. H. O. Rolle (1875-1941), American Impressionist landscape painter Also Known as: August Rolle, August H. O. Rolle, August Herman Olson Rolle "Attended Red Wing Seminary. Taught for a time, then entered the lumber business. Served in the military during the Spanish-American War. Lived in Washington, D.C., 1900–41. Was a forestry expert with the Bureau of the Census, 1900–41. Studied with Edmund Clarence Messer, Richard Norris Brooke, and James Henry Moser at the Corcoran School of Art, 1905–15. Was a founder-member of the Landscape Club of Washington, D.C., 1913." — Smithsonian American Art Museum

William Crossingham (1879-1954), born in Brooklyn NY, married Emma Roberta Cusick in 1901, in Washington DC; worked as a foreman-painter in the paint shop at the Smithsonian. Father of three daughters (b. 1903, 1907, and 1918; all now passed away). He's mentioned in the 1945 report of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian, on the occasion of his retirement: "On the staff of maintenance and operation, William Crossingham, mechanic (foreman of paint shop), retired on September 30, 1944, and on October 9, 1944, Axel J.
