Oes yna unrhyw un yn cofio Islwyn Roberts, Llanbedr, Sir Feirionydd, a fodiodd ei ffordd rownd y byd, yn dal arwydd â ‘Pays de Galles’ arno? Beth oedd ei hanes, oes gennych ffotograffau o’i deithiau, neu efallai gardiau post neu recordiad o’i atgofion? Os gwyddoch unrhyw beth amdano, neu efallai eich bod yn perthyn iddo, mae Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru yn awyddus i glywed wrthych. post@llgc.org.uk www.llgc.org.uk/bydbach Does anyone remember Islwyn Roberts, Llanbedr, Meirionethshire, who hitch-hiked his way around the world, carrying a ‘Pays de Galles’ sign with him? What was his story, what became of him, do you have photographs of his travels or maybe post cards sent by him or recordings of his memories? If you know anything of him, or maybe you’re related to him, the National Library of Wales would like to hear from you. post@llgc.org.uk www.llgc.org.uk/smallworld

Is that a bottle of "a little something" in the helmet?

bellissima!

Bryan# It would seem so, but can anyone identify what the "little something" could be?

I think it's cigarettes

Cigarettes - possibly - but why take them down a wet mine where they might get ruined and you could not smoke them. Anyone taking a match down a coal mine in the North East of England would be an absolute pariah. Too many men had died due to explosions of firedamp. There again; maybe he was an above ground worker.
