Interestingly, Market street has moved from being this street when this photo was taken, to being now what was then chapel street. The Pawnbrokers on market street (i.e. possibly the one in this image) in 1901 were David and George Meade. Edit: In 1911, all the bankers lived on Main Street, which according to the OSI was not in fact a thing. So perhaps market street in the census is where market street is today, and not the street shown above.

Interesting to note that both of the Wynne images you've uploaded have a magenta cast. Is there a specific reason for this? I have a fading print of this photograph in the family album, which I thought of uploading to my stream, but you beat me to it. :-)

Oh sorry, Mike! I was just so eager to get it up there. Really don't know about the magenta cast - many of our Wynne photos have it, and I love it personally...

No need to apologise at all. It's one of those photos I was sure you'd have, and in far superior quality to the print I have. The remainder of the photographs I have are of the immediate Wynne family members, and then my Great-grandfathers offspring, so I hope to see many more of T.J's photos here.

Funnily enough, the only person with the surname Pike who was enumerated in Mayo in the 1901 census was a German-born Church of Ireland jeweller by the name of Eanos Pike who was living as a lodger with the McNamara family in a three-roomed thatched house at Slievemore on Achill Island, not to far away from Glendarary!

Looking at the housing and building returns on the 1901 and 1911 censuses, I can't find a house to match Glendarary - there are six pages of records from the townland of Sraheens, but nothing of this size - could the house have been uninhabited as early as 1900?
