Monticello is well over two centuries old, and it is actually on the reverse side of the 5 cent piece, which is the American nickel. I did not know that information before I visited Charlottesville a couple of years ago. I never knew what that building was on the back side of a nickel until I went to Monticello. It is such a beautiful and truly American home that was designed on the classical style of Palladian architecture. Also, the house is based upon Jefferson's own design, and it means "little mountain" in Italian.

It's also one of the few, if only, sites in the US on the UN World Historical Site list.
