According to Google maps, this road is the 'Old Glen Innes Road', and that is the Boyd River. Once the main highway, it is now probably much the same as in the picture. Strangely there is only one place near Dalmorton which fits this arrangement of river, road, bridge and hills. We are north of the bridge looking south. - maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&... I wonder if that is the right place?

Per the accompanying note, the pics that appeared in the 'Picturesque New South Wales' montage were drawn from Kerry & Co photos...

There is an interesting bowl formation above and westish of Blue Lake. This looks very like that place.
