  Could this be the author, Paul Iogolevitch, of The young Russian corporal; the story of the youngest veteran of the war (1919) archive.org/details/youngrussiancorp01iogo The young lad in the frontispiece is holding a violin.

  I definitely think this is Paul Iogolevitch NYT of July 07, 1918 query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9D03E6D6103BEE3AB... mentions his two St George's crosses and other medals in an announcement of an event at which he would be playing his violin.

  It looks as though he dropped that last name at some point. His 1980 obituary in the NYT query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9E07EEDD143AE732A... has him as C. Michael Paul. But it's clearly the same man. And he did well for himself. See, for example, www.dailyjfk.com/tag/c-michael-paul/
