The remaining wreckage of Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird, USAF Ser. No. 61-7978 (c/n 2029), "Rapid Rabbit," at Kadena AFB, Okinawa. "Rapid Rabbit" was damaged beyond economical repair on July 20, 1972, in a crash landing. Both pilot Dennis R. Bush and RSO Jimmy Fagg were uninjured in the incident. Info from Joe Baugher's website. Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird MSN 2023. Set New York to London record of 1 hr 54 min 56.4 sec Sept 1, 1974. Set Los Angeles to Washington, DC record of 1 hr 4 min 20 sec, west to east coast in 1 hr 7 min 54 sec. Reported Summer 2008 at NASM, Udvar-Hazy Center. NASM claims that their plane actually has serial number 64-17972.
