I like old aircraft...but this photo goes beyond being an "aircraft" photo...

This may be Ron Cazey on his Blackbird bicycle, built by Don Blackman, in Ashfield, N.S.W. www.powerhousemuseum.com/collection/database/?irn=362418 It seems to have a B.S.A. chainwheel, as did most Australian handbuilt racing cycles of that period?

Nice! Mike How can you tell it might be handbuilt? I'd like to know.

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/vercettisworld] It's just possible to read 'Blackbird' on the down-tube, and according to the link, they were built by Don Blackman, maybe exclusively for Ron Cazey? B.S.A. would supply lugs & Reynolds tubing (531 in this case), to builders such as Malvern Star in Melbourne, Bastide in Paris, & De Mol in Holland (and probably many others?).

Mike Good detective work! Was the tubing all straight-gauge back then?
