Cuneiform and hieroglyphs are two totally unrelated writing systems. This scholar is studying a hieroglyphic inscription on an Egyptian temple wall, which does not imply that he can read cuneiform, which was used for writing Sumerian, Akkadian and other languages in Mesopotamia.

The inscription contains one of the names of king Rameses IV and is perhaps situated on a wall of the Khonsu temple in Karnak.
