    Is the tram horse drawn or is it just running someone over? I don't see any wires but there's a couple of legs up the front. edit: "Discussions towards electrification began in late 1890", so it's definitely a horse.

    I assume it's at the top of Grafton Street. There wouldn't be any business for the sidecars at any other corner of the green.

    None of the park's corners has a rounded fence today. Also the cobbled surface and the tramways have long been gone. Ironically, there are as many carts and horses in the picture as there are nowadays. Some things never change :)

    This is a view of the venerable hotel from St. Stephen's Green. The comparison with the park of today is striking. Nowadays only the top of the hotel is visible over mature trees.

    The hotel is in a photo from the National Library of Ireland that looks down the street by the park. The flag on the hotel is centre right.

    The comments there reach the conclusion that the NLI photo above was taken between 1873 and 1878.

    Another NLI photo which shows the hotel at right and has lots of well-informed discussion as comments.
