Miss Almy Gilford is one of the young women listed as participating in a society event, "Le Jour Ferie," a costume party and dance with an 18c. theme, sponsored by the Junior League, which happened in January 1915. Her father was John Parkin Gilford, her mother was the former Emily Louisa Lentilhon; her sisters were Lentilhon Gilford Von Fluegge (1895-1981), and Marian Gilford; her brother was Winthrop Buchanan Gilford. From the National Courier 5(2)(1915): 9: "Miss Almy Gilford has justified the pleasant prognostications made as to her social popularity on the occasion of her debut in the autumn, as she is one of the most sought little ladies among the debutantes." books.google.com/books?id=DQznAAAAMAAJ&lpg=PA9 Looks like she was named for Almy Townsend Buchanan, an ancestor of her father's, wife of Thomas Buchanan, a 18c. New York merchant.

Despite her social popularity, she was still Miss Almy Gilford when she married Donald Jones in 1962. She was his third wife. See NYT of April 27, 1962 (subscription needed) query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F10711FF3D5C177A9...

Confirming that detail... she was still Miss Almy Gilford when she was a westbound passenger on the RMS Caronia, boarding at Le Havre on 8 August 1953: www.caronia2.info/plf530808.php
