English suffragettes--officers in the WSPU--Beatrice Helen Saunders was the financial secretary in the London office, and Harriet Roberta Kerr (1859-1940) was the Secretary. They were arrested together under the "Cat and Mouse Act" in Fall of 1913.

Thanks for the information (and correct spelling of Harriet Kerr's name!). It's helpful to know what likely made the photo newsworthy for the Bain News Service. We'll adjust the description when we update the record.

Cape Saunders Light

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Whaling ⇂, and we'd love to have this added to the group! as it was likely built to guide whaling ships.

    Really nice

Cape Saunders was named by Captain James Cook on 17 January 1775 whilst on his second voyage of discovery. It is thought that Cook names the cape after Admiral Sir Charles Saunders (1713-1775), under whom Cook had served earlier in his career.

Hi, I just created a group for photos with a lighthouse shown, but where that lighthouse is not the main subject but just a detail. It is nothing serious, just because I like photos with a different view on lighthouses. The groupis called Not a lighthouse photo, and if you like to, I would be happy to see your photo in that group too. (It's not much yet, I just started it).

She looks to be about 12 or 13 years old, and I love the sea backdrop that was clearly in a studio.
