It has changed so much, and yet it has not changed at all.

To start with Carlisle/O'Connell Bridge was widened between 1877 and 1880 so this predates the widening. Secondly there's no sign of big Dan and most of the sculpture of the Street. I'd better get Googling or whatever. The foundation stone to Dan's monument was laid in 1864 but it was not completed unveiled until 1882. I can't see any sign of a foundation stone here.

Construction of O'Connell Bridge started in 1877 (a big job), and the first tramline from the pillar to Drumcondra opened in 1877 too. So, 1877 at the latest.

Excellent! So before 1877, but also before 1864 as Swordscookie says: "I can't see any sign of a foundation stone here" ?? Earliest possible is 1860 for this series of photos...

William Russell & Co. were at no. 5 Lower Sackville-Street, near Carlisle-bridge as early as Tuesday, 22 April 1851 as they have an advertisement in that day's Freeman's Journal declaring a reduction in the duty on coffee:

The Finest Mocha is now 1s. 6d. per pound. Costa Rica, Rio Janeiro, and fine Jamaice, 1s. 4d. per pound Demerara, Ceylon, and other imports, 8d., 10d., 1s., and 1s. 2d. per pound.

And Bewley & Evans were there too from at least November 1854 (also from Freeman's Journal).
