    Those chaps show up in a lot of photos of ranchers and cowboys here in Alberta. You don't see them much anymore, though.

    Amazing Amethyst with Glorious Glacier! This is really beautiful with lovely detail. I wonder how much of that glacier still exists, if any??? Joe Weiss really knew his business!

    Yes, Joe Weiss knew his way around a camera and the Rocky Mountains. And the glaciers are still there, albeit greatly receded. The most famous glacier in the Canadian Rockies, the Columbia Icefield, has been steadily creeping back for decades. Here is a photo that shows the location of the current glacier compared to where it was in 1935, around the time that these Weiss photos were taken.
