    Yes, Joe Weiss knew his way around a camera and the Rocky Mountains. And the glaciers are still there, albeit greatly receded. The most famous glacier in the Canadian Rockies, the Columbia Icefield, has been steadily creeping back for decades. Here is a photo that shows the location of the current glacier compared to where it was in 1935, around the time that these Weiss photos were taken.

    The photographer, Joe Weiss, was a Swiss immigrant who ran a photography studio in Jasper, Alberta and eventually branched out to become a mountain guide. He definitely knew how to capture this scenery!
