    B-17E serial 41-9032 "My Gal Sal" of the 342nd Bomb Squadron, 97th BG made a forced landing in Greenland on 27 June 1942. The "patchy" look is due to her original camouflage scheme, which used a Dark Earth equivalent color applied RAF-style over her existing Olive Drab factory scheme. The natural metal areas were where the OD had been - the remaining OD is a result of her Dark Earth topcoat wearing away.
