Following John Glenn's successful flight aboard Friendship 7, JFK came to Cape Canaveral on Friday February 23, 1962 and presented NASA Distinguished Service Medals to both Glenn and Dr. Robert Gilruth. Glenn and his family then went to Key West for the weekend only to return to Palm Beach on Monday and fly with the president back to Washington where he addressed a joint session of Congress. This is either his arrival or departure that weekend.
