Bundaberg, probably during the 1893 floods

This is another pic of Bundaberg, showing the lower lying areas in flood...here we see the ornamental facade and roof of the Metropolitan Hotel, corner of Bourbong/Barolin Sts...check it out on Google street view.

The SLQ has a pic of the Holy Rosary Church, corner of Barolin/Woongarra Sts, which is dated 1895...it looks slightly more advanced than the building we see here...I'd add the link, but all the links I make to SLQ time out...however, if you search on Trove for pics of the Holy Rosary Church it comes up...the foundation stone was evidently laid in October 1886...so if the date on the SLQ pic is correct, this ANMM Poulsen pic would have been taken some time in the period 1886-1895...perhaps at the same time as the other ANMM Poulson pics of Bundaberg...which I suspect might have all been taken during/after the 1893 floods...

I'm sure a few Bundaberg people would be interested in these pics...they're fascinating

There is so much water on what looks like Crofton & George sts near Saltwater Creek I presume. Fantastic level of detail, thanks again!
