Is there any possibility that the surname is a typo or a misreading of a handwritten label? I have found a Bird (or Birdie) Stein Gans (1868-1944), wife of Howard S. Gans. She was one of the founders of the Society for the Study of Child Nature. jwa.org/encyclopedia/article/gans-bird-stein www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/judaica/ejud_0002_00... Bird (Stein) Gans was a cousin of Gertrude Stein.

Not very scientific - I tried to line the faces up on the eyes. I really need to stop thinking about this and go do some real work!

My mom has two Guy C Wiggins winter scenes that have been gracing her wall for over 20 years. Not a day goes by that I don't spend a moment in awe of his work. What great talent beginning with his handsome grandfather and then passed into the third generation. Possibly four generations. I wish his son who is also a great fine artist a long a peaceful life. Guy A paintings, like his father and grandfather are simply breathtaking.
