  "At the beginning of World War I in 1914, Neidenburg was heavily damaged by invading Imperial Russian troops; the town was reconquered and rebuilt by the Germans after the Battle of Tannenberg in 1914." It was renamed Nidzica after WWII, and is in present day Poland. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nidzica

  In Polish, the spelling would be "krakowiak". The word also means "a male resident of Kraków". And, as if there were not enough confusion, a female resident of Kraków would be "krakowianka".
