I reckon from the tower of St Andrew's Church at Holborn Circus, see GoogleMapsSatellite . If you then go to the GoogleEarth plugin enable 3D and wiggle it around until you are on top of the church tower - aim SE towards St Pauls, and the Cathedral looks as in this photo. I can't think of any other buildings around at the time which might have been tall enough, unless it was another chimney. Chim chiminey, Chim chiminey, Chim chim cher-ee!
