    Alton B. Parker had been a former chief judge of the New York State Court of Appeals, an office he left in 1904, when he ran for the presidency, as the Democratic Party nominee. In 1913, when this photo was taken (on the steps of the NY State Capitol, in Albany), Parker was counsel for the prosecution in the impeachment trial of NY Governor William Sulzer.
