That's funny. Just saw this done in the Dirty Jobs episode at a Pennsylvania steel coal "coke" plant.

It was definately a DIRTY JOB. My dad worked at this place in the 1950's, 60's and early 70's. He used to come home with soot looking stuff on his clothes and face. Looked like he'd been working in a coal mine. Sometimes he would shower before he left so he wouldn't come home so dirty.

Any idea where this was taken? I know this is a bit of work but it may be worth adding each picture to your map. It means people could check the NLI flickr page and see any photos taken in their area! They're baking blahs! There was nothing like fresh blahs for breakfast with melting butter and home-made strawberry jam, yum, yum!!

This is more then likely John Adair's City Bakery at 18 Lady Lane, Waterford. He's listed in P.M. Egan's 1894 directory.
I think the bakery occupied the site of the Library on the corner of Lady Lane & Bakehouse Lane.
The foundation stone of the library was laid in 1903.

Ingenious. It's sometimes the little things that make a place feel like home. WWI was hell, every account of that war just amazes me. The whole idea of the German Blitzkrieg in WW2 was to avoid such horrible trench war brutality, of course it meant a brutal & bloody onslaught that moved like a thunderstorm.... not any less inhumane or ugly. War sucks, too bad we (the human race) can't break the cycle.
