Mich [http://www.flickr.com/photos/51979177@N02]Ha ha! Many of the Orient Line ships' names started with an "O" - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orient_Steam_Navigation_Company

From these advertisements (SMH 6/1/1904 p.1) - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/14591066 The ORMUZ was due to leave Sydney on 30 January (see Orient ad col.4 top) The DUMBEA was due to leave on 1 February (see MM ad col.3 half way down) Also the MOLDAVIA was due to leave on 6 February (see P&O ad col.3 top). This is very possibly the ship seen in the photo to the left. She arrived at that P&O wharf on 27 Jan ... ... which all suggests this panorama was taken between 27-30 January 1904 ??

And there is the "SS Orient" at her wharf. There are so many photos of her in the Tyrrell collection, that it seems she never left Sydney. www.flickr.com/search/?w=24785917@N03&q=ss+orient&... More info: www.flickr.com/photos/powerhouse_museum/2362703683/

I was wrong about the 'Orient' 12 years ago ... All about the R.M.S. 'Ormuz', which acquired longer funnels after an accident near Melbourne in December 1900 - ssmaritime.com/Ormuz-1886-1912.htm
