Number 54 (with his back to the camera) was Alabama linebacker Lee Roy Jordan. Jordan single-handedly pushed back Oklahoma, 17-0, making 31 tackles in the game. An Alabama sophomore by the name of Joe Namath made the first scoring pass of the game. Standing to the right of Jordan, and directly in front of the President is U.S. Senator Spessard Holland (Democrat) of Florida.

There is something quite special about Alabama.

Behind the President, smoking his pipe, is U.S. Senator Mike Mansfield (1953-1977). Seated beside Senator Mansfield (looking away) is U.S. Representative Claude Pepper (1900-1989). In front (L-R) is Edward Grant Stockdale (1915-1963), the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland, U.S. Congressman Dante Fascell (1917-1998), and the Governor's wife, Mrs. Julia Bryant (1918-1996). Congressmen Pepper and Fascell were Florida Democrats, and Senator Mansfield was a Montana Democrat, and the Senate Majority Leader. Stockdale was a former Florida State Representative.
