N.Y. Jets football team quarterback Joe Namath speaking at the microphone: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

When I was in my teens I remember watching this incredible play on TV where Namath faked a handoff for a run so convincingly that the officials believed it and blew the play dead as the runner was tackled; Namath still held the ball at his side and unleashed a bomb, which of course didn't count as the play had been ended by the officials.

Number 54 (with his back to the camera) was Alabama linebacker Lee Roy Jordan. Jordan single-handedly pushed back Oklahoma, 17-0, making 31 tackles in the game. An Alabama sophomore by the name of Joe Namath made the first scoring pass of the game. Standing to the right of Jordan, and directly in front of the President is U.S. Senator Spessard Holland (Democrat) of Florida.

There is something quite special about Alabama.
