    No doubt a brilliant photo but I’m inclined to think that it was staged. The headstock of the capstan lathe is fitted with a face plate, normally used for securing odd shapes or castings where a collet or chuck would not be appropriate. There is no jig or clamps attached to it and the capstan itself does not seem to have any tool blocks fitted to it. I’d hazard a guess that the picture was taken while the machine was being set up.
