@Rich - Good catch. These photos were colorized though a painting process. I'll get some more info and post it here.

Possibly at the Naval Review 14 October 1912 in New York, where a couple of other photos of US warships in the Bain collection were taken--see the adjacent photo of the Delaware and the Mayflower, for instance. There is a Naval Historical Center page on the Mayflower: USS Mayflower (1898-1931, later PY-1, the Presidential Yacht at that time) The ship has a long and fascinating history--see the Wikipedia article.
