MAYFLOWER, MINNESOTA (LOC)

Possibly at the Naval Review 14 October 1912 in New York, where a couple of other photos of US warships in the Bain collection were taken--see the adjacent photo of the Delaware and the Mayflower, for instance. There is a Naval Historical Center page on the Mayflower: USS Mayflower (1898-1931, later PY-1, the Presidential Yacht at that time) The ship has a long and fascinating history--see the Wikipedia article.

Looks nearly (but not quite) identical to a photo published in a 1917 book called Flags of the World; the caption there says the battleship is firing the presidential 21-gun salute.

Seems the "10/11" might refer to October 11. Perhaps this was just before the naval review in New York on 14 October 1912, where a couple of other photos of warships from the Bain collection were taken. Perhaps! (Another commenter on this series mentioned a similar review in October 1911.)
