HMCS Provider was commissioned in 1963, so this photograph should be later. She was built in Quebec and eventually scrapped in Turkey as described here. I see that she visited England in 1969.

There is a head stone in Hebburn cemetery for a Canadian seaman, Bruno joseph Turcotte who died on 16th June 1964, so she must of been in the Tyne then.

The steamer called at Tangiers and Gibraltar and on leaving Marseilles on July 20 she had 710 passengers. The usual calls were made at the Port Side Aden Bombay, and Colombo, and the weather was enjoyed during practically the whole of the voyage to Australia. The Strathaird, which has a number of round-voyage passengers, is a pioneer of the Australian cruising liners. She will sail from New Farm Wharf at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday on a pleasure cruise to Fiji and will be a full ship leaving Brisbane. For the convenience of passengers and their friends, the following telephones will be installed at New Farm Warf.
