I believe this is actually not near Creede, CO at all. A horizon this flat can only be seen near the front range in Colorado. I would guess that this is taken on US-40 climbing Mount Vernon Canyon west of Golden, CO, facing west. The hill in the center just below the horizon would then be Green Mountain south of Golden. Custos2001, thanks for the information! For now, we're gathering the suggestions and corrections, but will hold off on making changes until more comments come in.

The last time I went over this those guard rails were still in place. The first time I took my kids on this route my son looked out at the canyon and said, "My gosh, is this REAL?"

2013, I think those blocks are still there. One of the more incredible places in North America, if not on earth!

The road winding upwards must be Stalheimskleiva, once famous for being a rather hazardous drive.

This is not a part of Hardangerfjord. The road between Voss and Stalheim continues down the Naeroydalen valley and ends in Gudvangen. This is where Naeroyfjord starts (UNESCO World Heritage). Naeroyfjord is a branch of the longest fjord in Norway, Sognefjord (204 km long). Check out www.naeroyfjord.com
