for a picture with him identified by Bain.

But the movie could be "Britton of the Seventh" (and not "Battle Cry of Peace") since that was a Vitagraph movie. Since Blackton was a principal in Vitagraph and a technical movie-maker, he might well have been around.

Confirmed this as Blackton directing "Battle Cry of War", working title of "Womanhood, Glory of the Nation". The New York Dramatic Mirror uses this shot in its September 9, 1916 edition, with the caption "Vice President J. Apparently the filming of the Shirley Temple movie "Bright Eyes" (1934), which featured an American Airlines DC-2. That even appears to be Miss Temple being filmed in closeup looking out of the passenger window.
