The engine room of 'Naess Crusader'

Building cranes at the Elswick Works

    Fantastic! And of course there was a nearby pub named 'The Hydraulic Crane' too. A slightly posed photo but very real. To see machinery being made, of which only a handful survive, is great. Many think this was the only large factory along The Tyne - oh no. There were many and land along the river was at a premium and had no gaps of greenery along its banks for many miles. Thanks for sharing these with us.
